Our ward

The ward covers a wide area of beautiful Herefordshire countryside with several villages and hamlets. Close to the ever expanding Ross on Wye on one side and Gloucestershire on the other, making sure that we stay distinct and beautiful has to be a priority for us all.

Penyard Ward is a rural electoral division in South Herefordshire, bordering Gloucestershire to the east. It sits just east and southeast of the market town of Ross-on-Wye.

Penyard Ward

Our ward is made up of five main parishes spread over 4,400 hectares (nearly 11,000 acres in old money!) with about 3,000 electors in about 1,700 dwellings in the Ward :

  • Aston Ingham: A rural parish situated on the Gloucestershire border.
  • Hope Mansell: A small, secluded parish lying within the wooded hills south of Ross-on-Wye.
  • Lea: A hub of the ward located along the busy A40 trunk road, containing the village of Lea.
  • Linton: Includes the villages of Linton, Gorsley, and Bromsash.
  • Weston under Penyard: Homes the historic village of Weston under Penyard, dominated by the wooded landmark of Penyard Hill.

Under the changes announced by Herefordshire Council for the elections in May 2027, Hope Mansell will no longer be part of Penyard Ward, so I will not be campaigning in Hope Mansell, but will be happy to hear views of residents there if you wish to share them.
